Tyvek Drawing took advantage of the renovation of the Sherwood gymnasium when it was covered in Tyvek paper, in preparation for being bricked over. The mostly white surface served as an effective screen from our projection vantage point on the roof of a building across the street. Using a projector, amplifier, microphone, blackberry, ipod, and Wacom tablet, the art 280 class took requests for drawings that were then rendered on the Tyvek wall. A blackberry was used to look up information about the request, which was then read in a performative, host-like style as the drawing was being rendered. Appropriate mood music played in the background to further enhance the development of each drawing, and the unusual outdoor atmosphere in which they were done. At the end of the video is an image of the building after it had been bricked over.
