This is hands down the best commercial I’ve seen in the last six months. It’s so clever, so simple in concept, and makes a strong impact with the basic tensions it plays off: red/green, stop/go….a fight between them (a fight between their symbols literally!). It’s actually a bit jarring to watch the overt animated violence here…especially as it’s spirited along by the oddly perfect Snoop Dogg/Limp Biscuit (another tense combo!) track. In the end–a story that the commercial tells in 60 seconds–there’s a twist…you have to watch it to see. I’m glad this made it from the pitch room to the screen. Snickers deserves to sell some more candy bars for this.
I agree – totally fun! Makes me think that the world of advertising – and NOT academia – is better at fostering new art . . .
